Spot a Stroke with Light No Hospital Needed
馃 A New Way to Spot a Stroke- No Hospital Required
What if you could detect a stroke with a simple laser and a camera, without the need for an MRI or CT scan?
That鈥檚 exactly what Avraham Yosovich and the team at Bar-Ilan University, led by Prof. Zeev Zalevsky, are working on. Their latest research shows that analyzing light patterns on the skin, known as speckle imaging, can reveal how blood flows through arteries. And with the help of deep learning, the system can distinguish between normal and blocked blood flow in real-time.
馃挕 Why this matters:
Although currently tested on tissue models, this approach could soon be used to examine major arteries, such as the carotid, and eventually, those located deep within the brain.
This isn't just a step forward in medical tech. It鈥檚 a glimpse into a future where stroke care is more accessible, wherever you are.
Hats off to @Avraham Yosovich and @Zeev Zalevsky for turning light into insight.
