Prof. Rachela Popovtzer on being awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept Grant
The Bar-Ilan Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced materials (BINA), Bar Ilan University proudly congratulates our researcher,
Prof. Rachela Popovtzer from the Faculty of Engineering Bar-Ilan University, on being awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept Grant - for the third time in her career!!!
The grant will support the development of GOLDEN-RT, an advanced nanotechnology-based platform designed to enable highly precise systemic radiotherapy for cancer tumors and microscopic metastases, while significantly minimizing damage to healthy tissue.
“This is a critical stage where science moves beyond the laboratory and begins to directly impact patients’ lives,” says Prof. Popovtzer. “GOLDEN-RT is designed to improve the precision and effectiveness of radiotherapy, and to make the next generation of targeted, safer oncology treatments more accessible.”
This achievement builds on Prof. Popovtzer’s continued ERC-funded excellence:
In 2024, she received an ERC Proof of Concept Grant for GOLDEN-ADC, focused on improving the precision of drug delivery to tumors;
and in 2022, an ERC Consolidator Grant for BrainCRISPR, a gold-based nanosystem for delivering CRISPR molecules to the brain to treat rare genetic neurological diseases.
Warmest congratulations to Prof. Popovtzer on this outstanding achievement. We are proud of her continued scientific excellence and wish her every success in advancing research with meaningful real-world impact.
